The Worldwide Developers Conference is set to roll, and Steve Jobs, as I type, is now doubt practicing his speech in front of the mirror. At the same time, across the globe, the Apple stores are down.
With anticipation brewing, I am sitting here typing on my MacBook with my handy iPhone next to me. I wonder if I am going to be forced tempted to replace either of them within the next 24 hours. Be sure to check back here, as well as on our sister site, iPhone, for any news, shock, or awe.
Steve Job’s keynote is set to roll at 10:00am PT. I won’t be live blogging the event (alas, I am in stuck in Colorado), but I will be sure to wrap things up as soon as possible this afternoon.
See you soon!
Steve Jobs is giving one of his famous keynote addresses on Monday at the World Wide Developers Conference. There is no telling what he has to say or what surprises he has coming. What I do know is that Uncle Steve has a history of “One More Thing” surprises.
Over at the Cult of Mac blog, Leigh McMullen has posted an amazing interactive time line dedicated to all of the surprises and major pieces of tech that Steve Jobs has released at his famous keynotes. What makes the time line amazing is that also includes, where and when available, video of the actual announcements.
The time line goes all the way back to the original iMac release in 1998. If you are interested in a great little piece of Apple history, then head over to Cult of Mac to check it out.
For those of you who aren’t aware, WWDC ‘08, the World Wide Developer’s Conference, begins on Monday, June 9th. Steve Jobs is giving one of his famous (One more thing…) keynotes in which he shocks the world, sends the Apple Stock soaring, and causes people to get in fanboy lines weeks in advance for product releases.
Of course no one really knows what Steve is going to release or announce, but the internet is running rampant with rumors of all things Apple-ish.
Here are the rumored highlights with a probability rating (more stars=more probable):
- Apple will announce “Snow Leopard” - OS X 10.6. *****
- Apple will announce that “Snow Leopard” is Intel only and will run on PC’s . ***
- Apple will announce OS X 10.5.4 will release within weeks. *****
- Apple will announce a MacTable. **
- Apple will announce a Mac Nano for less than $500 (ultra portable mobile PC) ****
- Apple will release the 3G iPhone. *****

- iPhone Application store will debut. ****
- iPhone firmware 2.0 will be released. ****

If even half of these wild speculations turn out true, there will be some excited people in Appleland. I will be one of them. I am dieing for an ultra portable Mac, and the 3G iPhone is calling my name.
Do you have any scoops on what to expect next week? Let me know in the comments! I will bring you all the news that is fit to print after Steve does his thing on Monday. Until then, dream of dancing MacBooks.
